Hey Everyone! Mark here.
Toxicity is a golden age RPG that mixes cutting edge rules with old-school dungeon crawling beneath the meat-streets of 70's NYC.
Hey Everyone! Mark here.
It’s official! 251 newly infected are coming down to the Undercity! I AM ZOMBIE: Toxicity wasn’t just funded, it was made twice as great by your continued support. By smashing our stretch goals you’ve made an already impressive bundle bigger, meaner, and greater! With new Story Seeds, a Sticker Pack, Narrator Screen, more ID Cards, and our newly unlocked TOXICITY DICE - you’ll be ruling the meat streets and bringing down the grindhouse in ultraviolent fashion!
But it isn’t over! We’re currently looking into offering a locked stretch goal as a purchasable add-on for your Backer Kits. It’s too early to tell, but we’ll know just as soon as our spelunking Helldivers return from the tin pits below. Meanwhile, look for more updates regarding Backer Surveys and all other news from MBG in the coming weeks.
Thanks again for all of your amazing support, and for each of you Backers helping MBG infect the world with both I AM ZOMBIE and Toxicity! Stay tuned to that dead channel, and we’ll be seeing you soon (;
Infectiously yours, the staff of Make Believe Games
Public Service Announcement:
With the Toxicity Kickstarter in its last 48 hours, did you realise that we are only 3.55% away from the next stretch goal? The reality of I Am Zombie fans missing out on these sexy dice for their collections is a serious issue. We at Make Believe Games need you to help spread awareness for this crisis facing our community. Remember the three-step B.U.B. slogan:
Back: Back the project.
Up: Up-pledge your reward selection.
Blackmail: Make sure you do what’s necessary to ensure all of your friends have backed the kickstarter.
If we can reach this stretch goal, not only will we let backers choose the final color combination, we will make them available as add-ons for everyone. Together, we can help stop the lack of dice in your Toxicity packages and maybe even push towards unlocking the Mixtape.
A PUBLIC SERVICE MESSAGE BROUGHT TO YOU BY MAKE BELIEVE GAMES
YOU STILL HAVE TIME TO RIDE THE TOXIC TRAIN!
There are only a few days left until the end of the Kickstarter, so don’t miss your chance.
CHECK OUT THE MOST INSANE ZOMBIE KICKSTARTER EVER!
Toxicity is a stand-alone, 70’s-themed OSR dungeon crawling game within the I Am Zombie setting, and we have some amazing stretch goals left to achieve! And you know what... we’re going to do it!
1. Toxicity Dice!
With this stretch goal, Toxicity package will be expanded with eight d6 dice: the color will be chosen by the backers via special poll. These dice will become freely available to every pledger to the Toxicity Physical package. There is less than $400 left to go till we all can enjoy this awesome addition to the game. So please help us get the dice rolling!
2. Story Seeds!
Thanks to the generosity of our backers, Toxicity will already come with 4 story seeds, which will provide interesting and unique frameworks for Scenarios. If we pass this second Story Seeds goal, we will add 4 more to the pile, printed in style with full-color Toxploitation art. Story Seeds have a format that we are very proud of and that can be used to start independent adventures as well as mixed and matched with other seeds to create even more complex and elaborate Scenarios. They are also a nice handout to let players quickly get into a story’s mood and setup.
3. Toxic Storage
Tin! What better way to store all these extra goodies than a beautiful tin box covered with custom I Am Zombie art? A great addition to the project, this is a stretch goal we are very excited about!
4. Toxploitation Mixtape!
To create a perfect ambiance for your hardcore dungeon crawl sessions, upon reaching this stretch goal we will provide digital copy of Toxicity Mixtape! Featuring 12 unique songs in the spirit of 70’s grindhouse movies!
5. “Skag City”
With this final epic stretch goal, Mark will finally put to pen the diabolical Toxicity Scenario that has haunted our playtest sessions for months. This crazy super-dungeon, located inside an actual Uttuku, will test the wits and tactical prowess of players, with complicated, unique, and insanely complex set of traps, challenges, and fights. Combining the best aspects of core I Am Zombie and Toxicity, this “thinking man’s dungeon” will put your imagination and creativity to the test! Be prepared to die, and often. Based loosely on Tomb of Horrors!
Well, okay... not quite yet, it hasn’t. But with your support, anything is possible!
Not even halfway into the campaign and we have already unlocked some fantastic content for our backers: On top of the three game booklets, we have bumped the number of new ID cards up to 108, in addition to funding an awesome Toxploitation Sticker Pack and Narrator’s Screen.
As we mentioned last update, four Story Seeds have also been unlocked! These nifty handouts offer a plethora of adventure hooks with which to tease and beguile players.
But we ain’t done, yet!
We are now closing in on the 12K mark, with its sexy Brainz dice (remember, you guys get to decide on the final color combination for those!), and at 14K, we will add four more Story Seeds to the pile! At 16K, we’ve got a groovy IAZ Storage Tin, in which you can store all this Toxploitation goodness, and in passing the 18K mark, we will unlock Professor DJ’s Mixtape, which you can bet your boots is totally disco.
And then, at 20K…comes a yummy bit of evil known as the KRYPT OF TERRORS! In the far reaches of a wild and lawless Central Park, under a rocky and forgotten hill, lies the sinister Krypt of Terrors! This classic party-killer, erm — scenario debuted during the only official I Am Zombie tournament at the first and only DevilCon, back in 1978. Since then, it has allegedly been responsible for more deaths than smallpox.
If you’re a diehard gamer, you’re probably already wise to the gambit here, but yes... this scenario is a parody of one of the most (in)famous dungeon-crawling modules in RPG history! We here at MBG aren't in love with half-measures, so we are even in talks with the equally (in)famous Jeff Dee — cover artist of that 1981 RPG adventure — to have him illustrate our cover, as well! Our Krypt of Terrors scenario takes everything that was so right about the original and twists it into a dystopian 70’s nightmare of incomparable evil and torment! Good times!
Thanks again for all your support and continued diligence in spreading the infection to your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, and random strangers. The further we get, the more EXTRAS we can add that will fully round out this Toxic thang of ours...
I Am Zombie: Toxicity!
